WHY AM I A DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC

I was first adjusted when I was just 2 weeks old. My mom received chiropractic care throughout her pregnancy and had me checked right away. Mom tells stories of me being a happy, healthy baby. Growing up, our chiropractor was our primary care physician. When I was sick off to the chiropractor I went. I was given an adjustment and nutrients to heal the body.

One of my first memories is of me standing in the kitchen being sassy to my mom waving my finger and finishing my rant with “..and I don’t want to go to the chiropractor”. Since I normally had a pleasant disposition, my mom knew that when I became sassy or grouchy I wasn’t feeling well. That meant I was going to the chiropractor for an “attitude adjustment”.

This form of healthcare was my foundation and now my passion. My philosophy on health emphasizes prevention and wellness. I believe that wellness begins with making good individual healthcare choices. Through chiropractic care, together with positive lifestyle coaching, I teach and lead our patients to be active, eat well and enjoy life.

What Does a Chiropractor do?

Chiropractors are experts in detecting areas of nerve irritation throughout your body. An impaired nervous system results in dysfunction. This is where the disease process begins. We start by meeting with you and learning a detailed history. You will then go through a complete neuromuscular evaluation. Our treatment focuses on removing irritation from the nervous system. The bones of the spine house and protect your spinal cord, which is an extension of your brain. The spinal cord carries information from your brain to body and back to the brain again. Misalignments in the spine and other joints, called subluxations, create nerve interference. Chiropractors work with your body to remove the nerve irritation and restore proper alignment and function. We do this primarily through the use of specific Chiropractic adjustments.

Pediatric care

PediatricIrritation to a young person's nervous system can begin in-utero. The baby's position in-utero and during delivery (natural or cesarean) can create stress on their nervous system. Even a "normal, healthy" birth can induce 40-50 pounds of pressure on a newborn's neck and spine.

testimonial

I started seeing Dr. Skow when I was pregnant to help ease some pains with pregnancy and now am taking my 5 month old for adjustments. My daughter seemed to have a lot of digestion issues and going to Dr. Skow has made her a different baby. She is so much happier and content. I know I was skeptical at first but both my husband and I are so happy we did as we can see a major difference!
